Provide Help Create Hope Project
"Our hope in the risen and ascended Christ does not distract us, but on the contrary encourages us to be in solidarity with and to respond to in tangible signs to people living in situations of worrying insecurity, especially being affected by the blight of unemployment."
-Pope Benedict XVI,
Easter Address 2009
Provide Help Create Hope Program
We are all aware of the national and global economic crisis that has affected either ourselves or those we love in one way or another.
Project Provide Help Create Hope (PHCH) was established by Catholic Charities to respond to the new needs of middle- and working -class people in our parishes facing foreclosures, job losses, retirement income depletion, and health care benefit reductions, even as our agency supports those in chronic need.
Equipping Parishes to Respond Effectively and Efficiently
PHCH expands the ability of parishes to respond to the economic crisis as it is being experienced within the Archdiocese.
PHCH develops comprehensive resources for parishes to inform and help their parishioners, streamlines the application process, provides one-stop shopping to apply for benefits, and provides training and technical assistance to parishes that use those resources.
PHCH works to support the networking of parishes already engaged in creative and innovative employment support ministries.
PHCH will make available a Financial Conversation Course for individuals to participate in before a possible crisis affects them or their families.
Helping Individuals Re-establish Stability and Hope
PHCH works intensively with those in need as our partners, not clients.
PHCH participants and Catholic Charities make a three-month commitment to work together to end the crisis. Matched savings and financial crisis support may be offered.
We provide tips for wise decisions and for navigating the complex mix of federal, state and local services designed to help. And we empower people to make changes before a crisis, though our customized, values-based, discussion oriented financial strategies course.
We work closely with the Society of St. Vincent dePaul conferences, parishes, community ministries, government agencies and programs and other non-profits; advocating for our partners to unlock doors in the complex social services system.

"I applaud efforts for parishes to become in even greater measure, places where parishioners and others can turn for concrete help and support."
